Our family’s association with art hanging systems began back in 1994 when my Dad Bruce bought a furniture store in Crows Nest Sydney. The store sold a lot of artwork and prints and when he got tired of patching his walls he looked into a hanging system only to discover that there was not a well designed one on the market. Always being a bit of an inventor, he set about designing one! He then began importing furniture, moved to the Sunshine coast in Queensland and set up a factory equipped to both house his furniture and the machinery required to manufacture The Gallery System. It took a few years of refining his original design with the hanging system however the demand was so strong he sold off his furniture business and focused on The Gallery System. He began to export to the USA,  and soon after to New Zealand, Asia and South Africa.

Dad continued to refine the system and introduce new products. He came up with a lighting system which works with The Gallery System tracking where light wands simply clip on and off where required, putting the light directly on the artwork. Then later, he introduced The Slimline Art Hanging System, sensing a need for a slimmer version of the system which is very unobtrusive. This system has been very popular in homes and also for business use, and now accounts for around half of all sales.

I entered the business in 2008 distributing the products and am greatly enjoying the journey and all the interesting people and places I have met/seen along the way! There is never a dull moment in the art hanging business that’s for sure! We remain Sydney based (Gladesville) however distribute all over Australia. Australian owned and made, The Gallery System was the original picture hanging system and still the best.
